The Constitutional Court made Bangbang Village, Tembuku, Bangli a constitutional village. This was done through the signing of an inscription by Chief Justice Anwar Usman on Wednesday (28/11/2018) in the Village Hall of Bangbang Village. “The inauguration is part of the effort of the Court in making role models for constitutional enforcement,” he affirmed in the presence of four other constitutional justices. He said that each and every village has a strategic role in determining the constitutionalism in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The Constitutional Court hopes the constitutional villages will be able to use their potential and socio-cultural assets to building communities that have constitutional awareness, that are aware of their constitutional rights. The inauguration of a constitutional village, he said, serves to help instilling the values of Pancasila and the Constitution in the everyday lives of the people, especially villagers. Constitutional awareness of the villagers is expected to become the foundation to realizing Indonesia as democratic rule of law.

Constitutional Justice Working Meeting

Aside from inaugurating a constitutional village, the Constitutional Court also held a working meeting on “Realizing Justice in 2019 Simultaneous Elections” in Uluwatu, Bali on November 27–29, 2018. The meeting was attended by all nine constitutional justices and served to discuss the evaluation of the 2018 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) and the preparation for the 2019 Legislative and Presidential Elections on April 17, 2019.
