In his address, Justice Anwar said that teaching is a noble life calling. He also said that the Constitutional Awards continues to be held to appreciate the role of PPKn teachers, who had dedicated their knowledge to educating the nation. He believes that while PPKn as a subject had been underestimated, but that the subject and constitutional law have developed after the reforms. “After the reforms, PPKn became a favorite. Constitutional law lecturers who were underestimated now are respected,” he said.
Justice Anwar believes that knowledge on Pancasila and civic duties is an asset for students, which will benefit them in their work and in social lives. He said it is a basic foundation for all of the society in state life based on democracy and law. It helps us understand the nation and state’s philosophies, and with civic knowledge, we understand our rights and responsibilities as citizens.
“Therefore, the Constitutional Awards organized by the Constitutional Court since several years ago is maintained as the form of the Court’s concerns for the development of Pancasila and civic knowledge as well as appreciation for PPKn teachers,” he said.
The socialization program for PPKn teachers is taking place on Tuesday to Thursday (6-8/11). On Friday (9/11), the Constitutional Court will present the Constitutional Awards to PPKn teachers. (Ilham/LA/Yuniar Widiastuti)
