Candidate Pair Number 1 in the 2018 regional election hearing of Sinjai Regency filed an election dispute petition No. 11/PHP.BUP-XVI/2018. Attorney Achmad Rusyaidi Hamzah stated that his client challenged their disqualification by the Sinjai Regency KPU.
The Sinjai Regency KPU Decision No. 34/HK.03.1.-Kpt/7307/KPU-Kab/II/2018 dated February 12, 2018 on the Determination of Regent and Vice Regent Candidate Pairs as Contestants in the Election of Sinjai Regency Regent and Vice Regent in 2018 stipulates that the contesting candidates in the election were Andi Seto Gadhista Asapa and A. Kartini (Candidate Pair Number 1), Sabirin Yahya and Andi Mahyanto Mazda (Candidate Pair Number 2), and Takyuddin Masse and Mizar Roem (Candidate Pair Number 3). However, the Decision No. 77/PL.03.02-Kpt/7303/KPU-Kab/VI/2018 dated June 26, 2018 disqualified Candidate Pair Number 2. However, they remained contesting in the election and the KPU did not announce this to the public. This, the Petitioner argued, was against the law.
