The Constitutional Court (MK) will continue to improve video conference facilities including installing mobile cameras to provide the best services for justice seekers. This was conveyed by the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court M. Guntur Hamzah in his remarks when closing the Constitutional Court Coordination Meeting with All-Indonesia Higher Education Video Conference Managers, Thursday, (15/2/2018) in Jakarta.

The plan was made after hearing the input from the video conference manager at 42 tertiary institutions throughout Indonesia who attended the event, who said of the difficulty of organizing public lectures outside of tertiary institutions with video conference equipment. Furthermore, Guntur said, so far the Court was trying to improve the existing video conference equipment. However, the procurement must be in accordance with the provisions of existing laws and regulations.

Preparing for 2018 Simultaneous Elections

Participants had previously discussed the evaluation and preparation of video conference organizers in the face of the upcoming 2018 Regional Election. Head of video conference manager of Pancasakti University, Tegal Edi Pratomo and head of video conference manager of Tarakan University, North Kalimantan Safriani talked about technical issues regarding the handling of the 2018 local election dispute.

They talked about the limit of visitors who could attend the hearing which broadcast through video conference on each campus. In addition, both of them asked if the manager on campus provided assistance to the candidate pair. Under these circumstances, it is necessary to publicize the Constitutional Court Procedure Law in the resolution of regional election disputes related to distant court hearing through video conference.

In response, Head of the Center for Research, Case Review and ITC Management (P4TIK) Wiryanto explained that video conference managers who are in universities do not need to provide assistance to candidate pairs, success teams, or witnesses, because the Constitutional Court had provided technical guidance to Pilkada (regional election) participants.
