Constitutional Court Launches ITC-Based Case Management Applications

Ahead of the 2018 Simultaneous Regional Election, the Constitutional Court (MK) launched an information communication and technology-based case management applications on Wednesday evening (14/2/2018) in Jakarta. Chief Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah, and Audit Board (BPK) Chairman Soerja Djanegara, Bappenas (National Development Planning Agency) officials, Ministry of Finance, BPKP (Development Finance Comptroller), Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan RB), and Constitutional Court officials.

Eight ICT-based case management applications launched are simpel.mkri.id, case tracking, decision annotation, e-Minutes, e-BRPK (constitutional case registration book), visit to Constitutional Court, live streaming, and remote court hearing services on the Court’s website (www.mahkamahkonstitusi.go.id).

"As the potential for filing cases to the Constitutional Court is quite high, it is expected that all parties, including video conference managers, will be busy in fulfilling the demands of justice seekers for long-distance hearing through video conference facilities," Justice Arief said at the launch as part of "The Constitutional Court Coordination Meeting with Managers of University Video Conference Managers in Indonesia, Launching of ICT-Based Constitutional Court Applications and Services."

Justice Arief expressed his hopes for professional and close cooperation, especially in video conference. He believed that all have the moral duty to contribute to the implementation of the 2018 Simultaneous Regional Election and the 2019 General Elections.

The 42 law faculties that manage the video conference facilities, he said, were an inseparable part of the Constitutional Court. Awards were given to the best of those faculties for their management. Justice Arief hoped the awards would motivate them to optimize the use of the facilities in improving the quality of legal education in Indonesia.

The Law Faculty of Syiah Kuala University was made best video conference manager, with Mataram University at second place and Padjadjaran University at third place.

Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah said that the Constitutional Court was required to continuously improve to follow the times. Not to mention, the Court has a mission to guard the Constitution to modern, trusted constitutional judiciary. Modern, he said, means in mindset and use of technology. The judiciary is now managed professionally,
