Constitutional Court Held the Constitution Award

The Constitutional Court (MK) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) held the Constitution Award and Socialization of the Improvement of the Understanding of the Constitutional Rights of Citizens for the 2017 National Pancasila and Civic Education Outstanding Teachers. The event lasted for 5 days (6-10/11), in Pancasila and Constitution Training and Education Center, Cisarua, Bogor. The event was aimed at disseminating knowledge about the constitution to the public.

In the 8th annual event, 32 national finalists of the Civics Education (PKN) Teachers joined the 2017 Constitution Award. The finalists were four SD/MI teachers of, six SMP/MTs teachers, and six SMA/MA teachers who successfully passed the selection at the national level held by Kemenag and Kemendikbud. The finalists had gone through several stages of selection, namely portfolio assessment, self-description, and scientific papers. In the final round, the assessment was made by experts on constitutional law and constitution through several tests, namely written test and constitutional interview test by presenting various teaching innovations that had been practiced in the classroom.

In addition to the 2017 Constitution Award, several speakers presented their materials. They were Yuliandri, a Professor of Andalas University with "Constitution and Constitutionalism," Udin Winataputra with "Reactualization of the Implementation of Pancasila," Irjen Budi Setyadi with "National Insight," Hesti Armiwulan with "Guaranty of Constitutional Rights of Citizens in the 1945 Constitution," Radian Salman with "State Administration System According to the 1945 Constitution," and Janedjri M. Gaffar with "Constitutional Court in the Indonesian State System."

During the opening of the event, the Head of Pancasila and Constitution Education Center Budi Achmad Djohari explained that Civic Education teachers need motivation and training in order to encourage and motivate them to continue working, and to instill awareness of the constitution in Indonesian citizens. In addition, Budi explained that the event also aimed to provide awards and encouragement for the participation of Civic Education teachers in helping the Court and to give awards and attention to the achievement and dedication of Civic Education teachers in the upholding of the constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
