The Constitutional Court’s Center for Research, Case Review and IT Management (P4TIK) welcomed the Japanese delegation Friday (8/9/2018), consisting of professors, advocates, and law students. The delegation was welcomed by researcher Luthfi Widagdo Eddyono and legal expert Luthfi Yazid at the Delegation Room. In the visit, Gakushuin University professor and Judge Kusano Yoshiro, Chukyo University (Nagoya) professor Kazoto Inaba, and Nihon University professor Takashi Oshima and their delegation discussed enthusiastically the functions and authorities of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia.

Lutfhi talked about the constitutional history of Indonesia, the reform of the Indonesian Constitution in 1999, and the authorities and obligation of the Constitutional Court as guardian of the Constitution. The delegation then was given opportunity to ask questions. Professor Inaba asked about the differences between the judicial review in Indonesia and Japan as well as the importance of the Constitutional Court in guarding the Constitution, since Japan does not have such an institution.

"As a judge [who] knows various legal activities in Indonesia for 10 years, [I] really want to learn the functions of the Constitutional Court," Inaba said to Luthfi in the discussion also attended by the Head of Public Relations, Legal, and Cooperation Department Sri Handayani. The delegation was then taken to the Constitution Center to see the journey of the history of the Indonesian Constitution, which had been planned since 1945, and to take a closer look at the Constitutional Court’s courtroom where the Constitutional Court sessions was held.
