Candidate pair Tumpak Siregar-Irwansyah Damanik withdrawed their dispute lawsuit concerning Simalungun election dispute, as revealed in preliminary session, on Monday (7/3), in Plenary Room, the Constitutional Court Building.

“We inform that the Constitutional Court receives letter from Applicant’s Attorney. Please explain,” said Panel Head Patrialis Akbar clarifying Simalungun dispute lawsuit withdrawal.

Applicant’s Attorney Bayu Afrianto confirmed the withdrawal. “Indeed, we withdraw the lawsuit after discussing with principal applicant in March 3, 2016,” said him.

In the lawsuit, the Applicant argued Simalungun election commission had conducted regional election unconstitutionally because the election commission passed convict as candidate pair.

The Applicant had sued Simalungun Election Commission Decree to Medan state administrative court (PTUN Medan) in March 2, 2016.

“Medan state administrative court has granted a lawsuit towards dispute object that has similar substance with our lawsuit, which is Pemantangsiantar candidacy dispute lawsuit,” said Bayu.

Therefore, the Applicant decided not to continue their lawsuit process in the Constitutional Court. “Please consider our withdrawal letter for determining this case. Thank you, Your Honor,” said Bayu. (Utami Argawati/lul/Prasetyo Adi N)
