Taliabu Island Election Commission Denies Any Violation Claimed by Applicant

Taliabu Island election commission denied any fraud that resulted in candidate pair Zainal Mus-Arifin H.A. Majid’s vote loss, Respondent’s Attorney Ali Nurdin delivered the rebuttal in further session of Case Number 16/PHP.BUP-XIV/2016, on Wednesday (13/1) in Panel Session Room 1, the Constitutional Court Building.

“All Applicant’s claim saying Applicant’s vote lost amounted to 1,864 votes which added to Related Party’s vote due to fraud and manipulation, is never been elaborated by the Applicant,” said Nurdin in front Justice Panel 1.

Regarding Applicant’s claim saying foreigners involved in voting, the Respondent denied and said that such claim absurd. Therefore, the Respondent assessed Applicant’s lawsuit was obscure. “The Applicant also cannot prove on the minors, foreigners, and residents that lived temporarily using domicile statement letter that claimed involved in voting. Applicant’s claim is obscure, therefore it shall not be taken into consideration,” said Nurdin.

Meanwhile, Tidore Islands election commission denied entire Applicant’s claim. In previous sessison, the Applicant claimed candidate pair number 3 Ali Ibrahim-Muhammad Sinen had committed money politics. The election commission as Respondent assessed that the Court had no jurisdiction over money politics issue.

“In Case a quo, the Applicant only argued on several violations, particularly money politics. Therefore, according to the Respondent, the Constitutional Court has no jurisdiction over Applicant’s lawsuit,” said Respondent’s Attorney Muhammad Konoras.

The next session for both cases will be held on Monday January 18, 2016 with agenda dismissal verdict announcement. (Lulu Anjarsari/lul/Prasetyo Adi N)
