Dushanbe- Chief Justice of Tajikistan Constitutional Court Mahmudzoda Mahkam Azam praises the Constitutional Court of Republic of Indonesia (Mahkamah Konstitusi Republik Indonesia –MKRI) due to its remarkable performance in upholding Indonesian Constitution. Thus, Mahmudzoda invites the MKRI to attend the International Conference Commemorating 20 Years Anniversary of Tajikistan Constitutional Court (Konferensi Internasional Peringatan 20 Tahun MK Tajikistan). As the President of Association of Asian Constitutional Court (AACC), the MKRI has strategic role in strengthening global and regional constitutionalism.
Mahmudzoda says the statement during welcoming Deputy Chief of the MKRI Anwar Usman at B Complex Room, Dushanbe. He further says that he is impressed with the readiness and friendliness of the MKRI during the AACC’s Board of Members Meeting and the International Symposium on Constitutional Complaint which held in August 2015 in Jakarta.
Mahmudzoda hopes his institution and the MKRI could conduct bilateral cooperation in the future. According to him, Tajikistan and Indonesia have many similarities, such as majority Muslim population. He hopes there will be memorandum of understanding to realize closer cooperation. He also delivers that Tajikistan Constitutional Court will provide full support to the MKRI to conduct AACC agendas.
Responding the support, Anwar Usman expresses his gratitude to Tajikistan Constitutional Court. He also agrees that both constitutional courts have many similarities. He says the visit to the Tajikistan Constitutional Court is memorable. The Conference is successfully held and attended by 15 countries, from Asia, Europe, and East Europe.
Usman further says that the MKRI greatly respect Tajikistan Constitutional Court. He also invites Mahmudzoda to attend the next Board of Members Meeting and the third Congress of the AACC which will be held on April 25-26, 2016 in Nusa Dua, Bali. He also informs Mahmudzoda that the MKRI will be held International Workshop for Constitutional Courts’ and Equivalent Institutions’ Officials in December 2015, Jakarta. The workshop is official agenda of the AACC which will invite 17 AACC members and several constitutional courts outside the AACC.
Responding Mahmudzoda idea regarding memorandum of understanding, Anwar Usman agrees with his idea. Usman says he will report the idea to Chief Justice of the MKRI. He also hopes MoU signing between both institutions could be immediately realized. According to him, the MKRI has signed MoU with Russian Constitutional Court, Thailand Constitutional Court, Turkey Constitutional Court, and Azerbaijan Constitutional Court.
During the bilateral meeting, Mahmudzoda and Anwar Usman discuss the development of both institutions, including bilateral relation between Indonesia and Tajikistan generally. At the end of the meeting, they both exchange souvenirs and have photo session. (FLS/Prasetyo Adi N)
