Manahan MP Sitompul is Officialy Appointed as Constitutional Justice

Manahan Malontige Pardamean Sitompul took the oath as Constitutional Justice in front of the President on Tuesday (28/4) at State Palace, Jakarta.

Manahan MP Sitompul appointed by the President to replace retired Constitutional Justice Muhammad Alim based on President Decree Number 33/P/2015 on the dismissal and appointment of Constitutional Justice who appointed by the Supreme Court.

“(I, red) Honorably dismissed Dr. H. Muhammad Alim, SH, M.Hum from his position as Constitutional Justice following with gratitude for his dedication and service during the work term. Commencing from the sworn of Manahan MP Sitompul as Constitutional Justice,” said Deputy Minister of State Secretary for Human Resources Division Cecep Setiawan who read the President Decree dated April 2, 2015.

After the decree announcement, the event continued with the sworn of Constitutional Justice. “I promise that I earnestly will fulfill my duty as Constitutional Justice with my best and fairest, uphold the 1945 Constitution, and carry all legislation with verily, in accordance with the 1945 Constitution, and devote to the nation, may God help me,” said Manahan who sworn in front of the President Joko Widodo and other guests.

Manahan selected to be Constitutional Justice after passing the profile assessment and interview in the Supreme Court on December 2, 2014 with Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo. Manahan was one of the names from two names recommended by the Judicial Commission to the Supreme Court Chief. Manahan who previously served as Chief Justice of Bangka Belitung High Court was considered having good integrity. He participated in Constitutional Justice Selection from the Supreme Court element with other eight candidates.

Before appointed to be Constitutional Justice, man born in Tarutung on December 8, 1953 was Deputy Chief of Banjarmasin High Court. His justice career was began since he served as Justice in Kabanjahe District Court in 1986, then moved to several regions in North Sumatra while complete his master education. In 2005, Manahan appointed as Deputy Chief of Sragen District Court. At that time, his research for doctorate dissertation was completed by gathering the data in Central Jakarta Commercial Court, Medan Commercial Court, Semarang Commercial Court, Surabaya Commercial Court, Ujung Pandang Commercial Court, and conducted comparative study (literature study) to National University of Singapore and Universiti of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur. However, his doctorate exam could be conducted at Universitas Sumatra Utara in 2009.
