Strengthening Graft Extermination, MK and KPK Pledge Ties

Bolstering cooperation in graft eradication, Constitutional Court Secretary-general Janedjri M. Gaffar pledged ties with his counterpart from Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Himawan Adinegoro. Both institutions agreed to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at MK Hall, on Tuesday (12/23). Attended the signing Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva, Deputy Chief Justice Arief Hidayat, and KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto.   

The MoU comprises cooperation on information data, national integrity sustem, resources, socialization, education and training, research and development, and other matters. Through the agreement, MK and KPK are able to conduct information excahnge related to duty accomplishment and competences, while maintaining each institution’s independency.

Meanwhile, in arranging National Integrity System, cooperation between the two institutions covers state officials wealth disclosure form (LHKPN) and graft controlling program.

Moreover, to boosting materialization the agreement, MK Public Relation and Protocol Bureau and KPK Directorate Inter-Commission and Institution Cooperation were appointed to uphold five-year agreement.   

Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva said that the signing marks important milestone, sets a starting point or framwork formalities in eroding Corruption.

“We will disperse information in orde to uphold the cooperation,” Hamdan told.

According to Hamdan, Corruption thretens public interests and potentially disrupt people’s dignity.

“When I learn about impeachment in many countries, most of them related to corruption cases,” he added.

KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto in his speech told that MK and KPK is products of reformation, thus both institutions are obliged to accomplish reformation’s demand. (Nano Tresna Arfana/kun)
