Ambassador Against Child Violence Delivered Opinion to the Court

D\'Masiv frontman, Ryan Ekky Pradipta visited the Constitutional Court (MK) on Tuesday (23/12). Welcomed by Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva at Delegation Room on the 15th floor of the Court, Ryan alongside as with the other band members who was recently appointed as an Ambassador Against Child Violence, delivered a petition to eradicate child marriage. By the petitions collected through online media, Ryan was eager to show public support for a case of marriage material being heard in the Court.

"We would like to express public opinion that supports the minimum age of marriage to 18 years. Many facts that we encountered in the field showing early marriage are adversely affecting, both in terms of psychological and health, "said Ryan.

The lead vocalist said that this petition is not intended to interfere or intervene ongoing judicial review on Marriage Act. "It is only voiced no public desire, may be taken as consideration for the Constitutional Court," he added.

Concurrent with the submission of the petition, Ryan also expressed in the form of a D\'Masiv latest LPs entitled Better Life. According to Ryan, the core of the songlist in this album go along with being his mission entailed as Ambassador Against Children Violence to fight for a better life, especially for children.

Still In Hearing Process

Meanwhile, Hamdan Zoelva who received the band, revealed that he could not comment too much on this petition because the test of Marriage Act is being discussed in the proceedings. "I can not say much about this petition, but I appreciate the struggle to express your opinions to the Constitutional Court. I will present this petition to other Constitutional Court Judges in Consultative Meeting, "said Hamdan.

In the meeting, Hamdan also appreciated the extensive public participation in case that is being discussed by the Court. For Hamdan, it is a positive thing if the public can understand and participate in the proceedings conducted by the Court. "I appreciate this petition as an effective form of socialization. Public attention to this institution actually showed positive precedent of democracy in Indonesia, "said Hamdan.

Testing of the Marriage Law Article 7, paragraph 1, which set the minimum age for marriage is currently being discussed by the Constitutional Court. Final decision in the next session of the Court will answer question on case that gave rise to differ public opinions (Winandriyo Kun Anggianto).
