150 Teachers who participated in Constitutional Rights Course and Constitution Award for Teacher bestowal, paid a visit to the Court building, Thursday (11/27). Selected teachers from all over Indonesia were welcomed by MK PR and Protocol Chief Budi Ahmad Djohari who also delivered a speech in the visit.  

In his explanation, Budi told the teachers that the Court possesses Authorities and Obligation. The authorities of the Constitutional Court are deciding a judicial review on the laws against the Constitution 1945, deciding disputes amongst state agency, dissolution of political parties, and deciding disputes of the elections result, both presidential elections and the election of members of the DPR, DPD and DPRD.

Moreover, as the guardian of democracy in Indonesia, the Court also has an obligation to be performed. The obligation of the Court is to decide the House’s proposal related to alleged offenses committed by the president and vice president.

Assessing the History of the Constitution

Teachers were later allowed to sit in the trial and take a tour to the Centre of Constitutional History. During the call on, the educators looked enthusiastic to learn more about the Constitution. They were shown the process of Constitution formation, dated back from pre-independency to reform era which exhibited in various modern medium.

Aside from it, a movie about Constitution history was also screened. By the 30-minute-long movie, viewers may enhance their knowledge about Constitution and bear the norms within to daily life.

“This is such a priceless experience, we gained pile of knowledge like we never had before. I am hoping the sustainability of this event,” said Risma, Citizenship Teachers from Kalibaru Elementary School Jakarta.

Afterward, the Teachers will be settling back to the Pancasila and Constitution Study Centre in Cisarua, to proceed the Course which was scheduled to present several experts in knowledge sharing. The event will be ended on Saturday (11/29) marked by bestowal of Constitution Award for the best participants. The event will be attended by Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva, Minister of Culture, Primary and Middle Education Anies Baswedan, and Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin.
