Staffs of Constitutional Court (MK) conducted ceremony to commemorate the 86th Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda) on Tuesday (10/28). Secretary-general Janedjri M. Gaffar acted as the Inspector of Ceremony in the event.
“Every time we commemorate the Day of Youth Pledge, the image of youth heroism in declarating their commitment to the nation of Indonesia is always projected in our mind, about how they were committing to initiate one nation, one motherland, and one language, Indonesia,” Janedjri said.
He added that Youth Pledge is historical momentum and attached to the chain of our struggle in reaching independency.
“For the Indonesians, Youth Pledge is a manifestation of their concern in elevating our honor as a nation, equalizing our position to other countries,” Janedjri explains.
“For us, with all the diversities we are inheriting, Youth Pledge is a monumental event which incorporated all of this nation’s component to fight against colonialism and imperialism, resulting in sovereign, prosper, and justice Indonesia,” he said
He also said, this commemoration cherishes “Providing Sustainable and Advancing Youth” theme. The theme itself conveyed a moral that the youth must engaging optimal role in gluing the unity and development of the nation.
“Youth solidarity is important as requisite for bolstering the development of the nation. Solid youth means solid development, and solid development is a start of sustainable positive growth.” Janedjri explained.
Alongside with it, in 2015 Indonesia will be entering the gate of AEC, and the youth are -without doubt- the key of determining which destiny we should be opting. “We are a vast nation, packed with abundant natural resources, eminent cultures, tolerant society and developing human resources,” Janedjri said.
Closing his speech, Janedjri retained that the youth wellbeing reflects the country. “Thus sustainable development must be complied through empowerment process,” he said. (Nano Tresna Arfana/mh/kun)
