Hearing of Judicial Review on Act 15/2006 of Supreme Audit Agency (UU BPK) was held by Constitutional Court (MK) on Tuesday (10/28). An advocate and another notary, namely Ai Latifah Fardhiyah and Riyanti attended the hearing.

In the revision trial, Andi M Asrun as the attorney explained he has applied some revisions as advised by the Panel in the previous hearing. The revision comprises the reason by comparing BPK membership requirement in several countries. “We compared requirement of Supreme Audit Agency in Poland and Austria which adjudicate its member to keep a distance to the Parliament,” Asrun said towards Panel of Justices.

In short, the Plaintiff petitioned the ruling of Article 28 (d) and Article 28 (e) UU BPK. The Plaintiff explained that the two Articles hinder their way in becoming BPK member. As they want to join BPK members in the future.

Aside from it, Asrun stated that Plaintiffs’ constitutional right was harmed by the ruling of Article 28 (e) of UU BPK which does not clearly disallow political party member to become BPK member. According to the Plaintiff, selection committee member from DPR is allowed to register as candidate. The Plaintiff sees the requirement hinders advocate and notary to become BPK member as they may compete with political party members (Lulu Anjarsari/mh/kun)
