Network Education Watch, Society and Pesantren Development Association, 8 legal institutions, and five Indonesia citizens, that incorporated in 12-year compulsory Advocates Team revised petition of 9-year compulsory team. Ridwan Darmawan, the Attorney, delivered the fixed points in the following hearing which led by Justice Aswanto, Tuesday (10/21).

Ridwan explained the petition has encountered several changes, one of the revision comprises Network Education Watch’s position as the first Applicant. Another change had been applied to Constitution benchmark, the Applicants added Article 31 verse (3) 1945 Constitution to prop Article 28C verse (1) 1945 Constitution which registered in previous occasion.

Points of requests also experienced some revisions. The Plaintiffs pleaded phrase “Those who are 7 to 15 years old are subject of compulsory education” as determined in Article 6 verse (1) Act of National Education System (UU Sisdiknas) is unconstitutional. After several revisions, the Plaintiffs see the Article opposing Article 28C verse (1) and Article 31 verse (3) of 1945 Constitution.  

“We questioned 9-year compulsory education, instead we request 12-year compulsory with some notes that the government is obliged to fund the education from elementary to high school,” Ridwan recited his revised petition.
