In order to strengthen the knot between Russia and RI Constitutional Court (MKRI), MKRI Secretary-general Janedjri M. Gaffar conducted a meeting with Russia Constitutional Court Secretary-general Elena Kravchenko at Russia Constitutional Court building, st. Petersburg, Monday (9/29).
In the meeting, Janedjri delivered the purposes of the cooperation to his Russian counterpart. “Aside from strengthening the ties between the two institutions, this cooperation is meant to enrich both institutions’ capabilities and empowering comparative law studies between the institutions,” said the alumnus of Diponegoro University Doctoral Programme.
Representatives from each institution elaborated the cooperation into specific extent, such as, research studies exchange, Justice visit, joint conference as the need of both institutions, also published research exchange. Automatic five-year long cooperation extension also being deliberated in the meeting.
In the meeting, Janedjri also delivered a brief history about MKRI and the competences its handling in. “Not so long ago, MKRI complied its constitutional duty to decide over general elections. Based on the decision, President and Vice President elect, Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla will pledge their oath in front of People’s Consultative Assembly by the upcoming 20 October,” he said
In the closing moment, each side agreed to pour the meeting conclusion in MoU draft, to which will be signed by both institutions chief justice on November.(Yogi/mh/kun)
