Seoul - As President of Association of Asian Constitutional Court and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), Republic of Indonesia Constitutional Court (MKRI) will comply its best in accentuating AACC presence, primarily in attempt to enforce constitutional supremacy in states where constitutional democracy glorified and poured through common values.
The statement was delivered by Deputy Chief Justices Arief Hidayat, when he led AACC Speakers meeting on Sunday. The meeting was part of 3rd Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional series event in Seoul, South Korea
Attended the meeting, several AACC chiefs from the following, Mongolia, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Philippines, and Tajikistan. Representatives from Venice Commission, Russia Supreme Court, Sri Lanka Supreme Court, and Kyrgyzstan Supreme Court also showed up as observers.
In his opening speech, Arief retained MKRI’s duty as he called for strengthening ties between AACC members and to share the values for each institution. In the opportunity, Arief informed that MKRI Chief Justice received a letter from Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyzt Republic prior to joining AACC. Arief suggested so that the application will be deliberated in the 4th AACC congress which as planned will be conducted in Indonesia in 2015.
Other members, welcomed the suggestion, appreciation flooding to appreciate MKRI’s effort in maintaining and developing constitutional democracy in Indonesia. Some asserted, that MKRI’s role is influential in AACC.
After an hour long of warm and fluid talks, the meeting, which held in Korean-style Shilla hotel, eventually came to an end.(FLS/mh/kun)
