Social integrity is one of main poles of prompting social justice. Within integrity in social life, justice and prosperity will prevail. Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva in his khotbah entitled “Momentum Idul Adha untuk Menegakkan Keadilan Sosial” (Idul Adha in Erecting Social Justice) delivered the statement in University of Indonesia Ukhuwwah Mosque, Depok, West Java, Sunday (10/5).

Hamdan also cited that in social perspective, gap between the rich and the poor is widening here in Indonesia. “The gap is unpleasant, the rich getting richer by their tentacle-ing they inventories, while the poor getting pinched as their work space narrowing,” he said

This unpleasant condition, poverty, alienation, and ignorance are not necessarily the poor’s fault, it is more a structural and disability problems.  Thus, state can’t ignore the poor to struggle for themselves without any response. State must involve and craft tendentious policy in favor of the poor. No social Justice may stand with state’s ignorance.

Hamdan also said that, social unjust spark many forms of crime, such as robbery, forced interest, rebel against state’s apparatus, or any other violence, since dire poverty sometimes gave no choice to shun wrongdoings.

Before closing his speech, Hamdan retained that state must be the main actor to take part in generating policies in favor to the poor. Failure caused by ignorance and letting social unjust emerged is opposing social principle and Islam’s moral teach.(Panji Erawan/mh/kun)
