Sacred Pancasila day Ceremony held in Constitutional Court on 1 October. Commemorated modestly, the ceremony started with 1945 Constitution and Pancasila reciting. Kasianur Sidauruk acted as inspector in the ceremony attended by MK employees.

The annual Sacred Pancasila ceremony was conducted to comply Pancasila as an ideology and a source of all law in Indonesia.

Sacred Pancasila day is marked to commemorate 7 Army Generals who were assassinated by the 30 September Movement (G30S). The movement, allegedly backed by the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), brutally kidnapped and killed seven Army Generals who were alleged to plot a coup movement known as General Council. The incident marked mounting tension between PKI and Army during the period, encompassing justification for the Army to wipe out PKI’s members and sympathizers from Indonesia. PKI was accused for a Pancasila-toppling plot and to divert the ideology to be more communism-esque. The 7 Generals were later merited as Revolution Heroes given their death were considered part of sacrifice in a struggle of defending Pancasila against strong current of Communism back then.      

Pancasila Sacred day commemoration glorifies Pancasila as Indonesia’s one and only ideology. Pancasila strategically takes main part as the foundation of national living. Pancasila comprises every aspect of the state’s wellbeing. The commemoration also reminded that, by looking at Pancasila, moral crisis may be tackled. (Nano Tresna Arfana/mh/kun)
