Discrimination towards women are strongly related to the low awareness of their constitutional rights existence, while gender discrimination eradication still got lot things to tackle before it is considered ideal here in Indonesia.   

National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) is an institution whose concern shades the interest, keep the struggle to make Indonesia comfortable for women, despising discrimination and negative stigma. One of their struggles is to raise awareness of women’s constitutional rights by holding campaign to universities.     

In the meeting with Constitutional Court Secretary-general Janedjri M. Gaffar at 11^th floor MK building, Thursday (9/18), Komnas Perempuan, represented by two commissioner and two officers, called for integrated partnership over the campaign execution. “We plot a moot court competition for universities students in all over Indonesia. […] We see that MK’s video conference facility is perfect and suitable to prop the event,” Said one of the delegations, Andy Yentriyani.  

The event is one of the campaign forms planned by Komnas Perempuan to step up awareness of women’s constitutional rights specifically for the students who are many considered as the catalysts of changes. Throughout the rising, discrimination towards women, to which vulnerable to era and cultures challenge, will be shredded gradually.    

Sharing same interests, Janedjri expressed his appreciation and said that MK is ready to help and to contribute deeper, “This is a brilliant idea, MK is ready to support in integrating our facilities,” Janedjri responded. “However, due to the narrow time we have, I am expecting further meeting and written technical specification. Just to perfect everything,” he added

MK’s video conference facility has been harnessed times over and is proven to retain efficiency principle in holding long-distance hearing. Many institutions offered series of partnership, as MK welcome any institution in wiring the facilities to be used together for national needs.  

Judicial Benchmark

In the opportunity, Komnas Perempuan also said that MK’s presence as reform instrument is important for anyone who is seeking justice for his/her constitutional rights. For the fair judgments and MK\'s efforts to keep aligning itself with constitution, Andy Yentriyani said that MK must be set to be accountable judicial benchmark where public can rely their trust on.(Winandriyo Kun/mh/kun)
