Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva officially initiated Video Conference facility and gave a lecture in Musamus University (Unmus) Merauke, Papua on Saturday, September 6, 2014. The event was also attended by Rector Philippus Bataubun, Deputy Chief Papua Police Brig.Gen Paulus Waterpaw. Merauke Regional Secretary assistant Agustinus Joko Guritno, Merauke Airport Commander Lieut.Col (Pnb) M. Arwani, Merauke Military Regional Commander Brig.Gen Supartodi, regional government representative, Prosecutor, Military Force/Police, and Musamus University Civitas Academica.
The video conference facility in Musamus is the 42nd facility installed by MK in all over Indonesia. The facility is an implementation to reach justice-seeker more within reliable and efficient judicial system.
“The existence of the facility helps the hearing process conducted by MK. Related parties or witnesses are allowed to not attend the hearing directly in MK. Throughout the video conference facility, the hearing is more accessible and efficient in cost,” Hamdan said in his speech.
After the official inauguration, Hamdan proceeded to public lecture. In the lecture, entitled “Constitution Belongs to Us”, Hamdan emphasized the importance of regarding Constitution as the highest ruling law and reminded that Constitution belongs to us all, regardless of religion or races.
“Constitution is ours, since the birth of our nation we have the Act-protect Constitution. So the Constitution belongs to us all, defying our difference,” Hamdan said.(Hidayat/mh/kun)
