On the second day after Idul Fitri holiday, Constitutional Court (MK) conducts halal bi halal (Post-Idul Fitri gathering) at MK Ballroom. Chief of MK, Hamdan Zoelva stated that halal bi halal is a sensible tradition to retain any further social relations, notably after the legislative and presidential elections have been held.

The event acquainted to silaturrahim, a common gathering to maintain social relations between relatives, is conducted to remind that any conflicting sides are actually incorporated in one nation. “After the event of elections, we saw some cracks in our society, this is not something to be fostered. Halal bi halal is certainly a few of our attempts to appease those cracks,” Hamdan delivered his speech in front of other Justices and all of MK’s employees, Tuesday (5/8).

Within the reconstruction of social ties amongst nation, Hamdan convinced that Indonesia may gain respects as long as the archipelago keeps its unity solid and comprehensive. People’s awareness is needed, including from the muslims, which account vast majority populations in number.

“There are 3 principles for muslims to be regarded in their social life, which are Tauhid, equality, and fraternity.  Tauhid is Islamic view of Monotheism, there is only one Almighty God. Human beings are not different to each others, oneness and uniqueness only belong to God. Humans can only be differentiated by God Himself after their taqwa (piousness to God),” Hamdan said.

In relation to the fraternity principle, Hamdan explained that the main ideal of Islamic living is to stand one in good stead. Hamdan also sampled from what Prophet Muhammad SAW had done to unite Muhajirin and Anshor in Medina. Prophet Muhammad SAW asked his two main supporter societies to endow their bequests to each other descendants in order to maintain their dependence and fraternity.

Hamdan also reminded that Islam teaches its worshippers to not sully or throw badmouths to others, due to its danger in damaging unity. “Those principles in Islamic way of living are in line with nation’s mindset of living,” Hamdan said to close his speech. (Yusti Nurul Agustin/kun)
