DPR : PKB Involved in the Act Formation

Judicial Review of Act 8/2012 about legislative elections (UU Pileg) is being deliberated in a hearing session. The hearing was conducted on Monday (21/07).

The Agenda is a testimony hearing from Council of People’s Representative (DPR). According to commission III DPR member, Ahmad Yani, National Awakening Party (PKB) has no legal rights because the party involved in the mentioned Act formation and is the fraction which has agreed to infer the open proportional system.

Besides, what they were trying to deliberate is opened legal policy, hence what system to be used is under the authority of President and DPR as the Act maker.

Ahmad Yani says, opened legal policy is meant so the people may elect their representative on the willing of the people. The opened system is also meant so the people can have their responsibilities on their own.

Yani also revealed that the settlement was established after MK decision upon number 22-24/PUU-VI/2008. According to Yani, the settlement is situated after voting, which ended the deliberation of what method will be used. The opened proportional system was also designated to ensure voter’s independence and people’s sovereignty.

The next hearing will be proceeding by Wednesday, 20 August 2014 for testimonial hearing.

Prior to it, PKB pleaded a Judicial Review for opened proportional system as determined in the Act of Legislative Elections. The Article was viewed to smear some problems to the elections, like money politics and internal cracked.(Ilham/mh/kun)
