Chairs of State Institutions Ensure KPU and MK Independent

General Election Commission (KPU) is still calculating on the result of presidential election, tiered from the Voting Station (TPS) to national level. In accordance to it, the President several State institution executives committed to maintain KPU and Constitutional Court (MK) independency.

The meeting was attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Vice President Boediono, Chief of Assembly of People’s Consultative (MPR) Sidharto Danusobroto, Chief of Council of People’s Representative (DPR) Marzuki Alie, Chief of Judicial Commission (KY) Suparman Marzuki, Deputy Chief of Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Hasan Bisri, Chairman of KPU Husni Kamil Manik, and Chief of Elections Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) Muhammad. They agreed that the recent elections may bear critical tie, therefore they courage each other to pay more on independency to settle over presidential elections result.    

“Alongside with it, if there were some disputes, all of the executives must ensure MK to keep its independency and impartiality. All of us will ensure that there will be no intervention and pressure to MK in any way,” Chief of MK, Hamdan Zoelva said in the Press Conference after the closed meeting at 2nd floor, on Friday (18/7).

Moreover, The State Institution Executives also commit to save People’s votes, to precede, monitor, and give a hand on uncontained votes, from the elections to the announcement on the upcoming July 22. “Hence, we hope the succession went well and peacefully, so the agenda of national development can be continued,” he said.

Appreciation of Elections Event

The executives are also appreciating Elections Committees for the good work. Government, Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (Polri), and all Indonesians who have actively commit respective elections. It shows our integrity and spruce over democratic realm.

Hamdan alongside all of his peers hope that the election result is acceptable, mainly to the competing candidates. “However if there was any objection, we courage the losing side to apply on constitutional mechanism as determined in 1945 Constitution, of which to file a lawsuit to MK,” he said.(Lulu Hanifah/mh/kun)
