Constitutional Court (MK) held another checking session of Judicial Review of Act 8/2012 about DPR, DPD, and DPRD, Tuesday (8/07).
The Hamdan Zoelva-led trial had the agenda of testimonial hearing from DPR, Government, and experts. But the agenda was forfeited due to the absence of PKB central committee member, as the Applicant of case 35/PUU-XII/2014.
The Government’s representative who attends the trial is Mualimin Abdi, Head of Human Rights Research Body, who also acted as Dir. Gen. Law Regulation. He is disappointed by the absence of the Applicant, because the application will be included in deliberation of Legislative Election draft which will be taking place in 2015. He added that, the money politics phenomena may lead MK to decide different decision due to the proportional system of the elections.
Prior to it, DPP PKB objected the application of proportional system in Legislative Elections Act (UU Pileg) which led to overwhelming money politics and political cost. He urged MK to settle closed Proportional system again, when the legislative seat allocation determined by Party’s decision.(Ilham/mh/kun)
