Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva affirmed the importance of the presence of the Court to uphold the constitution in a democratic country, the Republic of Indonesia.

According to Hamdan, the existence of a state constitution is a common thing. The Constitution was shared by almost all countries in the world, either in the form of a written Constitution and unwritten.
"The Constitution is the basis of a national agreement and the various elements in the nation and aspects related to the implementation of the state. Agreement Constitution is the highest in the state apparatus," said Hamdan.
According to him, the determination concerning how organs are formed in the Constitution state. Countries can work, move, and achieve the goals and ideals because the constitution. Therefore, the constitution governs how the state relates to citizens and guarantees the rights of citizens.
