Court Completes Examination on Majalengka Election Dispute

The Constitutional Court (MK) completes the disputed election trial of regional head Majalengka, after all the witnesses presented by the parties in the case 141/PHPU.D-XI/2013 been examined in a hearing on Thursday (17/10/2013).

In a session led by Deputy Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva, Petitioner in the case, candidate Nazar Hidayat - Tio Indra Setiadi, submit four (4) witnesses. The first applicant witness, Yan Yan, accounts for voters who do the voting ballots 2 (two) times. While Otong Irkanto explains to the judges regarding the distribution of cigarettes at the polling stations 05 Mekarsari, Jatiwangi on the night before the voting ballot conducted by a successful team candidate Sutrisno - Karna Sobahi.

Other information described by Maman Suherman, which revealed the involvement of civil servants (PNS) for winning incumbent Majalengka Regent Sutrisno paired with Karna Sobahi. Whereas the latter witnesses Petitioner invitation letter explaining the distribution of the double opt to 4 (four) voters in Village Cicurug.

To rebut the Petitioner’s argument was strengthened through their witnesses; the General Election Commission also filed Majalengka 4 witnesses in the trial this time. Dadang Suryana, Chairman of the Voting Committee TPS Cicurug 01, admitted giving an invitation to those voters who rated double by the applicant, but said the four voters were not voting in polling station 01 Cicurug.

With the examination of all the witnesses presented by the parties in the case 141/PHPU.D-XI/2013, the judges declared the examination is sufficient. The next session will be held for the pronunciation of the verdict, and the parties were asked to wait for a call. (Ilham/mh)
