Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court M. Akil Mochtar received in audience the management group of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah led by Chairman Din Syamsuddin on the 15th floor of the Court Building, Tuesday (24/9) afternoon. Besides Din Syamsuddin, participate in a group some other figures, such as Fahmi Idris, La Ode Ida, Hatta Taliwang and Fuad Bawazier.
"The purpose of our arrival was to file a lawsuit against the Act 7 of 2004 on Water Resources. This is a continuation of what we refer to as jihad of Constitution, upholding the constitution, especially the laws that undermine state sovereignty. Especially in the fields of economics and energy, for example, we have filed a lawsuit against the oil and gas law in the past year," said Din Syamsuddin.
Din said, concerning a lawsuit against the Water Resources Act becomes important. Because according to the constitution, water resources should be controlled by the state and used for the maximum benefit of the people.
"So we are very concerned with the existence of such regulations. The law we observed and believe opportunities for privatization that leads to commercialization of water. In this case, the people’s basic needs such as water, should be controlled by the state and used for the greatest prosperity of the people," explained Din.
"Water is a basic need and a public good should not be privatized and commercialized that ultimately have an impact on higher prices and harm the people," said Din who was concerned to see reality in a hard water area and the high cost of water purchases.
"Although it was very busy with the Constitutional Court case handling election disputes, but in our opinion, the issue of water resources becomes less important," said Din.
"After Law No. 7/2004 on Water Resources, there would be following a judicial review which is already a lot of community organizations, NGOs and individuals who sue to the Court," said Din.
Oil and Gas Act lawsuit originally ignored by some circles, it was successful and marked by the dissolution of BP Migas. Oil and Gas SKK formation in response to the dissolution of BP Migas, has yet to resolve the issue. Precisely SKK Chief Oil and Gas Commission arrested for alleged corruption.
Meanwhile, responding to the things presented by Din Syamsuddin, Chief Justice M. Akil Mochtar who was accompanied by Patrialis Akbar and Anwar Usman promised to study and discuss the lawsuit against the law. "We will not discuss the substance in this forum, but normatively every case the entry will be processed according to the existing mechanisms in the Constitutional Court," said Akil.
