Dr. Hamdan Zoelva, S.H., M.H. formally served as Deputy Chief Justice of Constitutional Court (MK) period 2013 to 2016 after the oath of office before Constitutional Court on Thursday (22/8) at the Plenary Session. Zoelva Hamdan will serve as for two years and six months. Akil also revealed that the selection of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Constitutional Court is routine, as does the Court routinely convene to examine, hear and decide constitutional matters.
"What is interesting in the election of Chief Justice and Deputy Chief Justice of Constitutional Court is always found the fact there has never been a sharp contradiction between constitutional justices. Constitutional judges mutual self-surrender to each judge to pick anyone you want, no lobby, no need to be directed to choose a particular candidate," said Akil.
"For us, whoever elected as the Deputy Chief Justice of Constitutional Court is not an issue. Because we all believe, with all my personal capacity owned by constitutional judges, all judges are basically very decent constitution and assumed office as Deputy Chief Justice of Constitutional Court," said Akil.
The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by the heads of state institutions, such as Chairman of House of Regional Representatives Irman Gusman, Vice Chairman of People Consultative Assembly Lukman Hakim Saifuddin and Ahmad Farhan Hamid, Deputy Speaker of the House Shohibul Imam, Chairman of General Election Commission Husni Kamil Manik, and Kabareskrim Komjen Pol Sutarman .
