Petitioner Witnesses Reveal Various Abuses in Maluku Province General Election

The court trial continued Electoral Dispute (PHPU) Regional Head of Maluku province on Friday (19/7). The trial court filed by four candidates was held at the Plenary Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, with an agenda to listen to witness testimony from the Applicant. The Petitioner’s witnesses revealed violations and fraud that occurred in the three districts, namely Eastern Seram regency, Buru Island regency and Southeast Maluku regency.

This session was chaired by Chairman of the Panel Hamdan Zoelva accompanied by two members of the Panel M. Alim and Arief Hidayat. The session starts at 09.00 am. The first witness who delivered his statement before the panel of judges, Bartholumeus Diaz from Petitioner 91/PHPU.D-XI/2013 said that there are candidates who do not qualify as a candidate for governor and lieutenant governor, but was passed by the Election Commission of Maluku Province. In addition, there are sanctions that have been given DKPP to the Chairman of the Commission for violating the principles of fair, orderly rule of law and accountability.

Furthermore, Petitioner witness No. 92/PHPU.D-XI/2013, namely Mahmud Rumasukun. He said that there are thirteen recommendations given by each of the DPP party in the coalition Siwalima Development the candidate number 2 and the Jakobus Puttileihalat and Tapi Oyhoe as regional head candidates of Maluku Province 2013-2018. Then, he added, that on February 24, 2013, the Chairman of the Commission has verified the Maluku province concerning internal filing bearers of political parties in the form of AD / ART, SK DPD and recommendations.

The next witness who said similar thing is Abdul Aziz Keliandan. He is the coordinator of the team winning candidate number 4 in Kian Darat Sub District. He said that on June 11, 2013 in TPS 1 Kian Darat village there are nine voters of Junior High Students whose names are contained in voter list and participate in the election. In addition, there are also students who come to vote but their names are not on the DPT. Then, he has asked KPPS under the relevant electorate, but KPPS simply replied that their names enrolled in DPT to be cast.

The trial, which lasted until around 11:00 pm, was scheduled to resume on Monday (22/7), at 13:30 pm with the agenda of continuing evidence of Respondent witnesses and witness from Related Party. (Utami Argawati / mh)
