Maybrat County Government West Papua regional governments insist moved the capital to Ayamaru the urging of local people and culture historical ties.

In judicial review of Maybrat Establishment Act in the Constitutional Court, Monday afternoon (07/08/2013), Regent Maybrat Bernad Sagrim accompanied by their attorney, Muhammad Asrun questioned Act 13 of 2009 on the establishment of Maybrat district in the province of West Papua, which states that Maybrat Capital District is in Kumurkek Aifat.

They assess, these provisions have eliminated the aspirations of the people desire that it should be a consideration of policy makers. Not only that, it also saw the provision has horizontal inter-tribal conflict. "On January 20, 2009 in the village of North Ayamaru Yokase District has been a conflict between the tribe Ayamaru, Aitinyo, and Aifat which cause damage to a variety of facilities and infrastructure that the Government of Northern Ayamaru marred by the masses," explains Asrun before the judges.

In addition, the reluctance of Maybrat Local Government and society to actively run the government in Kumurkek is also due to Kumurkek geographical location distant and difficult to reach by public. This is compounded by a lack of facilities, infrastructure and basic infrastructure to support the continuity and smoothness of the government, such as the lack of roads, bridges, and government buildings.

Thus, Asrun ask the Court gave strict interpretation of the Law on Establishment of Maybrat District that essentially ordered the central government to the central government put Maybrat regency, West Papua province centered on Ayamaru. (Juliette / mh)
