Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) M Akil Mochtar received the "Tanjungpura Award of Honor (Tanjungpura University Royal Award)" on Monday (20/5). The award was presented by the University Rector Prof Dr Thamrin Usman at the University Campus Auditorium. The Honorary Award is given to Untan alumni and best sons and daughters of West Kalimantan on the achievements and his work for the progress of the nation.
Akil Mochtar, who was born in Putussibau, West Kalimantan, 18 October 1960, was judged to have a lot of incised achievements, both in the legal world and the Indonesian political scene. Before serving as a judge constitution, Akil Mochtar started his career as a lawyer. His name became popular after handling the case "Sengkon-Karta volume II". So popular is the case, then the case is turned into a book called "Street Justice Reaching vague".
Akil Mochtar also served as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) / People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) 1999-2004, member of DPR / MPR from 2004 to 2009, Vice Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006, members of the Ad Hoc committee I MPR. This award is given by Untan, for his accomplishments in building and scent of West Kalimantan. (Ilham)
