Dispute of Election of Palembang City: Judges Opened Five Ballot Boxes

Panel Constitutional Court in case No. 42/PHPU.D-XI/2013 concerning election dispute of regional head of Palembang City opened five ballot boxes on Tuesday (14/5) afternoon, at the Plenary Court Room. Five ballot boxes were opened by the Panel of Judges headed by Chief Justice M. Akil Mochtar were 13 ballot boxes from polling stations of Karyajaya Village, TPS 5 Talang Semut Village, TPS 20 Talang Aman Village, and TPS 03 and TPS 13 Sukajaya Village.

Once opened, there are some differences between the data held, either by Candidate Romi Herton - Harno Joyo (Applicant), Election Commission of Palembang (Respondent), nor Candidate Sarimuda - Nelly Rasdiana (Related Parties). Some differences were found, which are related to the numbers listed in a summary form, signature, writing, and some streaks that exist in the document. "There is thickening, writing about the same," said Akil comment on any of the existing form.

Unfortunately, Judge Panel difficulty in performing checks on some ballot boxes. In addition there is a missing ballot box key lock, there is also the condition of the ballot papers and wet. Until finally, Akil postpone examining ballots still in the wet to dry first. "Physical will be reviewed again by the Assembly," he said.

After checking the documents contained in the ballot boxes, Akil then performed validation on all the evidence submitted by the parties. Furthermore, the parties are required to submit the conclusions not later than tomorrow, Wednesday (15/5) afternoon.

"The trial in this case has been completed. And to all the parties, Petitioner, Respondent, and the Related Parties are given the opportunity to make a conclusion. After that you would wait for a call from pronunciation Court verdict. Matter of ballot boxes and other documents will be submitted after the verdict," Akil lid. (Dodi / mh)
