Starting today Constitutional judge M. Akil Mochtar is officially as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court 2013-2015. Akil Mochtar’s oath as Chief Justice in a special plenary session is led by Deputy Chief Justice Ahmad Sodiki. Akil shall hold Chief Justice for two years and six months.
Special plenary session of Chief Justice’s oath held on Friday, (5/4) at the Plenary Court. Present on the occasion, the entire constitutional judges, a number of heads of state institutions, such as the Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives Irman Gusman, Vice Chairman of the House of People Representatives Priyo Budi Santoso, Vice Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, and National Police Chief Timur Pradopo, as well as several ministers of United Indonesia Cabinet II.
In his speech, Akil said that today is a day that is very important and historic for him. "My mood mixed up. Touched and happy, "he said. Gain the trust of the constitutional judges, as a colleague, said Akil, is a very moving and happy. Although on the one hand, it’s a very heavy mandate to embrace him.
According to him, not an easy job to make the Court as one of good institution while maintaining a modern and reliable judiciary as it is today. The important thing, says Akil, is to maintain the integrity, independence, and constitutional justice and morality all the elements Constitutional body, especially the staff of the Registrar’s Office and the Secretariat General of the Court.
"The independence of judges is set in stone. To uphold its independence, the judge can give a fair verdict. Equitable decision that crown the most beautiful," said Akil.
