Chief Justice: It Needs Good Governance Management Managing Differences

Chief Justice Moh. Mahfud MD a guest speaker at an event titled Cultural Dialogue "Forging Unity in Variety Nations Culture", organized in cooperation with the Association of Private Higher Education Indonesia (APTISI) with Radio Republic of Indonesia Stations in Ambon, (19/10).

In these activities, Mahfud, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees APTISI, describes how to manage the differences between the unities of this nation. "Indonesia is so widespread. Actions considered intolerant occur in some areas it's just a small pop-pop that could have been resolved with the management of good governance," he explained.

In the history of Indonesia, said Mahfud, a rather massive conflict had ever happened in Ambon and Poso. That too can be solved by its own national culture and to remember only a small area of Indonesia. A number of the current question, "Why are we still remain united country?" The answer, says Mahfud, because our nation was built based on the Pancasila state agreement with the principle of unity in diversity or different but still one. "Pancasila air-Unity in Diversity is based on nature, and nature of Indonesia is different and always wanted to unite, in the past," said Mahfud.

Therefore, further Mahfud, every conflict; we must always remember that we are one. The changes which occur in certain things natural nature, such as skin color, ethnicity, residence, and so on. But we have the same soul to unite. "That needs to be set at this time is government management, to manage the differences come into play," said former Defense Secretary Gus Dur era at the end of his presentation.
