Chief Justice: Election Fraud injure Values of Law and Democracy

ief Justice of the Constitutional Court; Moh Mahfud MD in a National Seminar entitled "Election of Regional Head of Democracy and Law in Perspective, held at the University of Tanjungpura Pontianak on Monday (21/5). The seminar was attended by Governor of West Kalimantan, Chairman of Parliament, Police Chief, Bawaslu, and approximately 300 people attending the event from various universities in West Kalimantan.

In his speech, Mahfud said the agency has received Election dispute cases as many as 418 cases. A total of these, 278 cases decided by the Constitutional Court rejected as unreasonable
cases and as many as 85 cases are not acceptable because it has passed the prescribed deadlines. While as many as 46 cases of disputes common election chief guardian of the constitution granted by these institutions.

said Mahfud.

Mahfud also said Election is still colored by social conflict. "The general election of regional heads also can lead to social conflict, that is to divide the support of each other, so that the hostility through terror and persecution, and also spent a huge cost," he explained. 
The Court did not decide upon aspects of the criminal offense caused by the criminal justice and police affairs. "The Court is only deciding disputes the results of elections of regional heads," said former Defense Minister Abdurrahman this era.
