A total of 157 students and five lecturers of STKIP (High School Teacher Training and Education) Garut, West Java, visited the Constitutional Court (MK) as one of a series of their field activities, Monday (16 / 1). The students and lecturers of STKIP greeted by a researcher and Chief of Staff of the Constitutional Court, Abdul Ghoffar which also provides material about the Court.

Abdul Ghoffar starting material exposure by stating that the profession as a teacher or educator is a noble profession. Based on his own experience, Ghoffar expressed satisfaction that the educator has a mind that is not measurable. "I’ve become educators while still studying at IAIN Sunan Ampel, I teach religion at the SMEA, if current CMS. There is an inner satisfaction that is not measurable at that time than money given to me every month, "said Ghoffar.

About the Court, historical background about the origins of the Constitutional Court is formed. In theory, the idea of the Constitutional Court has existed since Indonesia’s independence. However, the Court began to find his form after the reforms of 1998 occurred.

When the reform, there is a sense of disappointment in the community. Because, after years of independent Indonesia still has an authoritarian leader. According to Ghoffar, Indonesia is not entirely wrong when it’s leaders who become authoritarian. Indonesia before the reform of state administration system also has loopholes that allow Indonesia to be an authoritarian leader.

Ghoffar then explained the map of power at that time. MPR was a mandate from the people. President received 100 percent of the sovereignty of Parliament. When the Assembly is controlled by the president, then president automatically becomes authoritarian. "There is no control system at the time," said Ghoffar.

After reform, there was no longer known to the highest state institutions like the Assembly was not there anyway and the highest state institution. After the reform, the institutions have their respective functions, including the Constitutional Court.

As the state judiciary system, the Court has a hearing function norm. The function is realized with the powers of the Constitutional Court, which is authorized to examine the Act against the 1945 Constitution, authorized to decide disputes between state agencies, authorities deciding upon the elections, including elections, authorized to decide upon the dissolution of political parties, and the authority to make recommendations at the request of the House to dismiss the president if it violates the constitution.

At this opportunity it Ghoffar also expressed about the independence of judges and the constitution of the Court employees. Ghoffar said according to his experience that when the trial of a case, the employee was sworn in first. "Even our mobile phones during the trial to take care of the 2009 Election Court were replaced by a cell phone that can be tapped. We are also quarantined in the office. That is one effort to keep independence of the Constitutional Court, "said Ghoffar. (Yusti Nurul Agustin / mh/Yazid.tr)
