Indonesia Survey Institute released the latest survey results related to Corruption Perceptions. In conclusion, the rule of law in Indonesia is still bad, can even be said to be very bad.

"The assessment of the condition of public law enforcement in 2011 was the worst in 7 (seven) years," wrote the LSI in a release. "Consistent with it, public assessment of government performance in fighting corruption is also lowest in 2011compared to previous years."

In one of the survey results, LSI puts Indonesia National Army in the first place (57.2percent), the President in second (51 percent), Police in the third position (39.3percent), the Corruption Eradication Commission in fourth (38, 5 percent), Bank Indonesia in fifth (38.2 percent), and sixth of the Constitutional Court (37.7 percent).Perception is obtained from the question, "How clean the following institutions from corruption". The greater the percentage would be the better rated by respondents.

According to Moh. Mahfud MD, as the survey, the findings of the LSI is no doubt true. "But it’s not the same perception of the facts," he said.

"So I believe the survey results as a perception, not fact. Keep in mind, the perception was influenced by the method of the survey, state, and news, "continued Mahfud. In fact, during this public perception is greatly influenced by the substance and quantity of news on a particular case or issue in various media.

That is, a survey of a perception can be designed as needed. For example, by making an introduction, statement, or questions those are insinuative (giving indirect charges).

Therefore, according to Mahfud, LSI survey was not something extraordinary. "That’s normal," he said, when met at his office on Monday (9 / 1) afternoon. (Dodi/Yazid.tr)
