Visiting Court, State Islamic University Jakarta Deliver Four Notions

Head of Public Relation and Protocol Affairs Bureau, Noor Sidharta welcomed the group of Lecturers from State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta (23/2/11)


Jakarta, MKOnline – Several Lecturers from State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta conducted a goodwill visit to the Constitutional Court (The Court). Head of Public Relations and Protocol Affairs Bureau, Noor Sidharta welcomed their visit at Public Relations and Protocol Affairs meeting room, Wednesday (23/2).

The visit of guests from UIN Jakarta was intended to deliver four notions which they considered important. Firstly, they demanded a clarification from The Court about the procedure of video conference facility implanted in the Law Faculty of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta.

“At least, UIN Jakarta has a video conference, so that we can get a live coverage from the session held in The Court to be passed on to the students. So far we have prepared the facility for that, including asking for support from our IT division.” Revealed Zainal Arifin, a General Administration Assistant to the Dean of UIN Jakarta. 

Secondly, UIN Jakarta wanted to have a subject on Legal Expertise for legal practitioners and so on. So far, there was a moot court in UIN Jakarta which handled general judiciary and judiciary on religious matters. “Yet, we have not done a session model like the one applied in The Court. Because this is beneficial for the students.” Continued Zainal. 

Thirdly, UIN Jakarta also prepared experts in the field of Islamic Law should that be needed in the future. For example, to be used as an Expert Witness. So far the Police and the Attorney General Office have asked UIN to prepare an Expert Witness for certain cases.

Meanwhile the fourth point, continued Zainal, despite the young age of The Court, in terms of quality and institutional image, The Court was still better that any similar institutions. Therefore, UIN Jakarta would use The Court as an object or a facility for research.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations and Protocol Affairs Bureau of The Court, Noor Sidharta expressed his gratitude on the inputs from UIN Jakarta. In that opportunity, Sidharta also explained that at the moment The Court had set up cooperations with a number of universities related to the video conference facility.

Besides that, SIdharta said, The Court also held important events among others were Constitution Debate done by university students all over Indonesia to test their constitutional knowledge through debates which the grand final stage would be broadcasted through electronic media.
