Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Moh. Mahfud MD welcomed the Management Board of Islamic Student Union (PB HMI), Thursday (24/2) on 15th Floor of the Constitutional Court Building.

Jakarta, MKOnline – Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (The Court) Moh. Mahfud MD had a meeting with the Management Board of Islamic Student Union (PB HMI), Thursday (24/2). In that meeting, Mahfud and PB HMI discussed the possibility to have cooperation in providing awareness on constitutional rights to the people.

The management board coming to meet the Chief Justice at The Court’s Building was Noer Fajrieansyah (Chairman of PB HMI), Basri Dodo (Secretary General), M. Yusuf Sahid (Deputy Secretary General), Muhammad Syafii (General Treasurer) Hendra Ferdiansyah (Deputy Secretary General for Law and Human Rights) and Aulia Kosasih (Chief of Law and Human Rights Division)

The six were directly welcomed by Mahfud in 15th floor of The Court’s Building. Through light conversation, Fajrieansyah said that HMI gave their moral support to The Court as a “commander” of law in Indonesia. For that, Fajrieansyah expected to be able to make a synergic cooperation with The Court as a form of that moral support.

Yusuf Sahid continued the demand of HMI to have a synergy with The Court in order to provide an awareness to the people on their constitutional rights. He considered the people in the low level had not fully aware of their constitutional rights. “PB HMI wants to be in a synergy with The Court so the ordinary people, students and other people understand about their constitutional rights.” Explained Yusuf.

Responding to that, Mahfud said that the idea from PB HMI was a good one. Moreover, the problem in law enforcement was indeed become one of The Court’s main agenda. Nevertheless, since The Court was not an executive body but merely a court, then such cooperation programs that would like to be implemented had to be discussed and researched further.

A program’s urgency according to Mahfud needed to be considered. For example, Mahfud once stopped an event for not having an equal utility value to the organization of the event itself. “(I) feel guilty to the state if it is not effective,” explained Mahfud.

Besides discussing on the possible cooperation between HMI and The Court, on that opportunity they also talked about actual issues such as the performance of the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Ahmadiyah issue, until the continuation of Gayus case.

At the end of the meeting, Mahfud emphasized that should in the internal of The Court there be an employee committed corruption, he would not hesitate to bring the case on the domain of private law. Because a corruptor deserves to be impoverished. “If there is such case (corruption-ed.) on The Court, I will bring it to the domain of private law. It would be too nice for the person if he is dismissed and brings the money too.” Emphasized Mahfud. (Yusti Nurul Agustin/mh)
