Jakarta, MKOnline – A number of members of Madia (Inter-Religion Dialogue Community) – an institution with main concern in the field of inter-religion dialogue – visited the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (The Court) Mahfud MD, Thursday (24/2) afternoon in 15th Floor of The Court’s Building. The visit was intended to follow up the previous meeting about the administrative problems of Followers of Faith Believer in Indonesia.
The problems Madia delivered was still old problems frequently experienced by the followers of faith believers in Indonesia. Applying for an Identification Card, Marriage Certificate and other civic administrations were still a setback. In applying for an ID Card for instance, the faith believers were asked to leave the column on religion empty. Actually, in several regions, there were faith believers allowed to fill out the religion column in their ID Cards with the words ‘faith believers’.
The ID Cards problem becomes a crucial matter, moreover related to the plan that there will be electronic IDs. The second problem is about marriage certificates which affected the children’s interests in the future. For example, matters related to their schools, works and others.” Revealed Trisno Sutanto from Madia accompanied by some colleagues among others Engkus Ruswanda, Dewi Kanti, Amanda and others.
Because of that Madia sent their complaints to The Court to settle those problems by finding the best way so that there would not be a discriminatory image on the faith believers in Indonesia. At least, said Trisno, The Court could facilitate meeting with related parties such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Law and Human Rights (HAM) or Ministry of National Education to find the best way in dealing with those problems.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of The Court accompanied by Constitutional Justice Hamdan Zoelva promised to make efforts to set up the meeting as Madia wanted. The meeting which was planned to be close in nature was expected to find the best solution for those problems.
As many known, Madia was born due to the concern on the growing of partition between religions and faiths in Indonesia. The interaction of some religions and faiths in Indonesia was often filled with suspicions, chauvinism, and underestimating the other side made worse by the theological views that was exclusive and full of arrogance. That awareness forced Madia to make concrete efforts for the existence of dialogue between religions and faiths. (Nano Tresna A./mh/YDJ)
