Jakarta, MKOnline - Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (The Court) Moh. Mahfud MD, accompanied by Secretary General of The Court Janedjri M. Gaffar, received the visit of Hanns Siedel Foundation (HSF) Indonesia Director Dr. Ulrich Klingshim, Thursday (27 / 1), in Chief Justice’s office. On that occasion, Ulrich was accompanied by Nila Puspita of HSF Indonesia.
The purpose of their visit is to discuss some follow-ups of the cooperation that had developed between The Court and HSF. Previously, the Court and HSF had established cooperation in some activities, particularly related to the development of democracy and constitution-awareness education in Indonesia. The realization of the program included: seminars, workshops, expert meetings and focus group discussion (FGD).
In the near future, an expert meeting will be held involving multiple agencies and state institutions and the Association of Court Procedural Law Teachers (APHAMK). APHAMK is an association which is facilitated by the Court in order to support its missions to spread massively the constitutional awareness culture among the people, especially among academics. The materials discussed in the expert meetings will not go too far from the implementation of the Court’s authority and law enforcement in Indonesia.
"We will invite APHAMK, the Court, House of Representatives (DPR), Judicial Commission, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, General Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), General Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu), and the General Election Commission (KPU) and the lecturers," said Ulrich mentioning which party will be invited to the event. In addition, Ulrich continued, his visit was alongside with the plan for the visit of former German Constitutional Judge, Siegfried Bross to Indonesia. (Dodi/mh/ydj)
