Secretary General of the Constitutional Court (The Court), Janedjri M. Gaffar as the ceremony inspector in the context of commemorating the Youth Pledge Day, read the speech of the Minister of Youth and Sports Andi A. Mallarangeng, on Thursday (28/10), in the yard of The Courtâs Building.
Jakarta, MKOnline - “Youth Pledge commemoration gives us all an opportunity to have struggle energy and ideas in motivating the people, advancing the nation and moving the state”. This was a part of the speech of the Minister of Youth and Sports Andi A. Mallarangeng read aloud by the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court (The Court) Janedjri M. Gaffar when leading the ceremony in the context of commemorating the Youth Pledge on Thursday (28/10), in the yard of The Court’s Building.
“Young people really need clear and firm identity. In fact, democracy also provides freedom to determine their own associations. Let personal identity grow differently, just like at the time of the Second Youth Congress in 1928 with the participants coming from various kinds of associations. However, such diversity must still within the framework of the Indonesian nation, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika/Unity in Diversity,” continued Janedjri before all The Court’s employees.
Janedjri also conveyed that the community played the role to direct, guide and even give firm sanctions if the critical and creative attitude lead, on the contrary, to physical acts of violence or other forms of violence and anarchism. “We also criticize the attitude of young people who show a group or class identity while underestimating or even eliminating the identity of other groups. The close tie among young people due to the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika must be in line with intelligence, skillfulness and wisdom because only with those the nation can achieve advancement and dignity as an influential nation in the world,” he said.
In the 2010 Youth Pledge Day commemoration ceremony, also read was the Decision of the Youth Pledge Congress on October 28, 1928 by one of The Court’s employees, Sylvia Yuliani. “The meeting then decides: Firstly, We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one motherland, Indonesia. Secondly, We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the nation of Indonesia. Thirdly, We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, respect the language of unity, Indonesian,” she cited.
The peak of the 82nd Youth Pledge Day commemoration this year was held under the theme of “Bangun Karakter Pemuda demi Bangsa Indonesia yang Maju dan Bermartabat/Building the Character of the Youth for an Advanced and Dignified Indonesian Nation” in Solo, Central Java as the first city to organize the 1st National Sports Week or Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) I on September 9, 1949.
