Jakarta, MKOnline - Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court attended the Silaturahim of National Figures held by the Central Executive Body of Muhammadiyah, Friday (8/10) afternoon at the Auditorium of Pusat Dakwah Muhammadiyah Building, Jakarta.
The event with the theme "Analyzing the Nation’s Problems and their Solutions" was attended by several national figures from various state institutions, mass organizations and several religious people societies. Among those present were the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, Taufik Kiemas, the Speaker of the People’s Legislative Assembly, Marzuki Alie, the Former Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla, the General Chairman of Hanura Party, Wiranto, the Former Governor of Jakarta Sutiyoso, the economic observer Rizal Ramli and the activist of the Clean Indonesia Movement, Adhie Massardi.
On this occasion, these national figures gave a short description related to nation problems as well as their solutions. “The problems we are facing are not merely problems. The nation’s problems have become problematic. Problematic means that they have turned to be very serious, fundamental, complex and complicated problems,” Din Syamsudin said when delivering his welcome speech before the discussion began.
In the event, Mahfud was given the last turn to express his views. “Because when a problem was brought to the Constitutional Court, it is solved then,” Din joked, drawing the laughter’s from the participants.
According to Mahfud, the ideas of the figures present are the same as what he has in mind. Even though at a glimpse, there are several views that gave different ideas or even contradictory.
Mahfud stated that in addressing the nation’s issues as problematic as they are today, we must keep the balance between being patient, grateful and making efforts because, he continued, patience and gratefulness contains hard work. “Being grateful and patient in a dynamical sense means that we must do something instead of not doing anything,” Mahfud said, commenting on the difference of opinion arising during the discussion.
More importantly, Mahfud added, is the example given by the leader and the consistent implementation of law by all circles in the society, particularly the ruler (read: leader). “There are no constitutional or ideology issues. Law had firmly set forth this, the problem lies in the implementation,” he affirmed. “Leadership is the key. Do not let it held hostage to the mistakes in the past.” (Dodi/mh)
