Jakarta, MK Online – All members of the Big Family of the Constitutional Court (The Court) held the Halal Bihalal 1 Syawal 1431 Hijriah in the hall of The Court Building on Wednesday (15/9) afternoon. Also present at this event were Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Moh. Mahfud MD, Vice Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Achmad Sodiki, constitutional court justices, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court, Janedjri M. Gaffar, and a number of structural officials and other The Court staff.
In his speech and advice, Mahfud MD expressed the importance for fellow Moslems to ‘apologize’ each other for the mistakes made whether intended or unintended.
“The philosophy is that according to the religion, human beings are created in a holy condition. However, in the journey of life, such holiness is stained by the association of human beings themselves, as the needs ’in practice’ sometimes force humans to made mistakes. Therefore, according to religion, today we have the opportunity to return to the zero point of holiness,” described Mahfud.
Mahfud further explained that in the religion, such holiness cannot be reached easily without us apologizing each other. In relation to apologizing, Mahfud quoted one of the hadist shahih telling that one day Rasulullah (Prophet Muhammad) was sitting in the mosque together with his close friends. At that time Rasulullah answered to a prayer unheard by the others.
“Rasulullah said ‘amen’, and then stopped for a while and then said ‘amen’, and stopped for a while then said ‘amen’. His close friends asked him, ‘O Rasulullah why did you say ‘amen’ while no one saw anyone else praying here?’ “ said Mahfud.
Mahfud continued that actually the Rasulullah said amen to the prayers said by Angel Jibril which were prayers. First, “Oh Allah don’t You accept the worship and fasting of those who are unwilling to apologize to their parents.” The second prayer was “Oh Allah don’t You accept the worship and fasting of those who are unwilling to apologize to their spouse.” Meanwhile the third one was “Oh Allah don’t You accept the worship and fasting of those who are unwilling to apologize to their brothers or friends.”
Therefore, Mahfud continued, the wisdom from the hadist was that people need to apologize to other people sincerely. “Even if other people do not accept our apology’ said Mahfud, ”Allah SWT, God Almighty will forgive us for our mistakes,” he concluded. (Nano Tresna A/Koen)
