The Constitutional Court held the continuation of case concerning the dispute over Ogan Komering Ilir Election, Monday (17/11), at the Constitutional Court Room. The trial for case No. 29/PHPU.D-VI/2008 was scheduled to hear official information from the Petitionees (OKI Election Commission) also to examine evidences.

The Petitionees, through their Legal Counsel, Alamsyah Hanafiah, stated their exception containing denial and refusal on the main proposition of the Petitioners claim delivered in the last trial. The Petitionees denied having made cooperation with the elected candidate pair in the Election, Ishak Meki and Engga Dewata Zainal, to press the voters for choosing the candidate in the event held in last October 23. “We never forced the voters to choose certain candidate in the election, moreover with a promise that if they did not choose the candidate they would not get a gas stove and other aids,” revealed Alamsyah.

Speaking in the same tone with Petitionees, the Related Party who was the elected candidates through their Legal Counsel, Dindin Sudin, also denied intimidating the voters in the voting days. In his explanation, the Related Party demanded the Constitutional Court to refuse all the Petitioners claims because, “the Constitutional Court is not authorized to adjudicate the process of the election and only the result of the election instead,” claimed Dindin.
