CONSTITUTIONAL Court Judge Amos Twinomujuni has attacked the Attorney General, saying he has let the country down. Twinomujuni said the Attorney General had failed to restrain government officials from breaking court rulings.
Citing the court ruling on the right to assemble, Twinomujuni said: âââ¬Ã
âWe ask the Attorney General not to let Parliament pass a legislation which is contrary to the Constitution.
"When the Constitutional Court makes a ruling, then the Inspector General of Police takes it upon himself to interpret the Constitution. The Attorney General is quiet,âââ¬Ã he said.
âââ¬Ã
âThe Attorney General should advise the Government. We are trying to promote the rule of law,âââ¬Ã he added.
Twinomujuni, who was at a workshop for judges and magistrates at Ridar Hotel in Seeta recently, was reacting to a question by the director of the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative.
Livingstone Ssewanyana had asked what should be done when the Government ignored Constitutional Court rulings.
