Jakarta, Kompas – Higher Parliament planned to build a team to study totally on the amendment of Constitution 1945.

The decision made in Gathering Meeting between leaders of the Parliament and leaders of Fractions as well as Team of House of Regional Representative (Dewan Perwakilan Daerah (DPD)) in the Parliament building, Jakarta, Monday (9/8). Chief of Parliament Hidayat Nur Wahid told press after the meeting. Hidayat was accompanied by Vice of Chief of Parliament AM Fatwa and Aksa Mahmud.

”We agreed to make a Study Team,” Hidayat stated.

However, they did not decide formation of the team, such as the work period, the members, and  the composition of Parliament who had ever involved in amendment of Constitution 1945 as well as they who had never been involved. ”We will meet again soon,” Hidayat said.

Content of the meeting actually advised to make a Constitution Study Commission. Member of the commission would consist of representation of fraction as well as  the team of House of Regional Representative in the Parliament, and would also involve the leader of state organs which had a direct relation with the Constitution, such as the Constitutional Court (Mahkamah Konstitusi). Beside that, The commission would also involve some experts, such as ex-member of mantan Parliament who had ever involved in amendment of Constitution 1945 as well as ex-member of Constitution Commision.

The meeting was a follow up of gathering meeting held in February 21 2008. The meeting also conducted to respond the public aspiration as well as what the President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated.

When President Yudhoyono welcomed the Chief of the House of Regional Representative Ginandjar Kartasasmita, January 25  2008, they agreed to prepare the fifth amendment of Constitution 1945 totally by forming a national commission soon.

”We will follow it up by making the expert to merumuskan what it is like to be for a new government, for the government chosen in 2009 Election,” the President stated accompanied by Ginandjar on the press conference.

When he came in the celebration of The Parliament s 63th Anniversary, August 29 2009, The President stated the plan to do the fifth amendment of the Constitution. (sut)
